Exotic Medicine

Dr. Russell Breckwoldt was born in Brooklyn and raised in Goshen, New York. Much of his youth was spent exploring the streams and woods behind his house in search of snakes and salamanders. Russell attended the University of Massachusetts and graduated cum laud with a BS in wildlife biology in 1984. He received his master's degree in parasitology from the University of Georgia in 1987 followed by his doctorate of veterinary medicine in 1991.

Dr. Breckwoldt enjoys seeing exotic pets, especially reptiles, ferrets, bunnies, fish and pocket pets. While he does see birds for routine nail, wing and beak trims, sick birds will typically be referred to an avian specialist.
